A story that begins
in Venice, in 1970
Architect Asghar Mollaian arrived in Italy in 1970 to study architecture in Venice, the city of art. He comes from a Persian family with a deep love for art and the rug trade.
Long before becoming an interior designer and dealer, he cultivated his passion by seeking out these Oriental artefacts with a collector's soul.
More than forty years of work in the province of Treviso, first in Asolo and then in Treviso itself, have made Mollaian one of the best-known Oriental rug dealers and interior consultancy addresses in the Veneto.
Restoration and washing
In Persia, rug restoration is a tradition that runs alongside the art of weaving itself. A rug is value that lasts: we look after it so it stays that way.
Restoration workshop
Our master restorers work with precision on routine care (needle-securing fringes, reinforcing edges and selvedges) and on more complex work: stitching tears, repairing damage, reconstructing missing areas. On antique and old rugs, kilims, tapestries and Aubussons.
Complete hand washing
Dust and footfall dull a rug's original brilliance. A periodic wash, with softening and anti-moth treatment, restores the lustre of its colours. To keep a rug in good condition, it should be washed every 4 to 5 years.
